Meet The Ministry of Silva Whitaker

Silva Whitaker found Christ at the age of 24 on January 1, 1983. In that very month and year, she launched her first salon, Heavenly Styles. She went on to own four beauty salons and several other businesses.

In 1996, Pastor Whitaker answered the call to full time ministry and started serving the youth in her community by establishing an agency known as Reconciliation Youth Outreach. Leveraging her entrepreneurial skills, she extended outreach programs from Florida to Texas and Virginia.

Having been ordained and commissioned by her Bible college in 1989, Pastor Whitaker was later ordained by Bishop TD Jakes Ministries in 2005. Despite holding multiple degrees, her true passions lie in music and working with young people. Recently, she founded the River Family Life Center at 607 Lynnhaven Parkway, focusing on supporting families in need.

Inside the River Family Life Center, there is a music practice room where troubled youth engage in behavior modification through the arts. The center also offers various parenting and co-parenting classes to enhance parenting abilities and assist blended families. Additionally, there is a Bible and training institute for aspiring ministers looking to step into full-time ministry. As a proud mother and grandmother, Pastor Whitaker will retire from full-time pastoring this spring to refocus on platform ministry, evangelism, and both domestic and foreign missions.

The River Family Life Center will continue under the guidance of the board of directors. Families are encouraged to enroll their children in music appreciation, dance, and acting classes during the summer, spring, and holidays at 607 Lynnhaven Parkway. For more information, contact (757) 386-6059.

After dedicating over 25 years to full-time ministry, Pastor Whitaker is being honored for her quarter-century of service. She is also the proud mother of Kenndra Mitchell, Esquire, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
